Before and Aftercare
BEFORE APPOINTMENT
Please wear your normal makeup as we will wipe down your eyebrows and sterilize the area before your procedure. Wearing your regular makeup routine is recommended so that we may get a better idea/understanding of your style.
Stop taking any blood thinners such as fish oil, aspirin, etc. unless directed by your physician.
Strictly no caffeine or alcohol the day before and the day of your procedure, as doing so will thin your blood and affect the procedure and healing results.
Botox and fillers must be done at least 2 weeks before your appointment.
Eyebrow waxing is completely fine and encouraged but must be done at least 2 days before your procedure.
Refrain from using products or facial services that include retinoids, glycolic acid, acids, chemical peels, laser resurfacing, and exfoliators 10-14 days prior to the appointment.
Lip procedure only. For individuals that have cold sores, we recommend you contact your doctor and take your prescribed course of medication at least 3-5 days before your procedure as a preventative measure. If you currently have cold sores, you must wait until fully healed, and preventative care is taken.
Do not use exfoliators, peels, acids, and facial products that contain Retonids, Retin-A, Alpha Hydroxy, Retin-A, Glycolic acids, and other products that promote new skin regeneration.
WHAT NOT TO DO
Never touch the procedure area without cleaning hands prior. It’s best to leave the procedure area alone as much as possible only to clean and moisturize if needed.
When showering or bathing try to avoid getting any soap, shampoos or other cleansers on the treated area for the first 3-5 days.
Do not scrub, rub, scratch, or pick at the light dry scab (epithelial crust) that forms. Allow it to flake off on its own. If the scab is picked at or removed, the pigment underneath it can be pulled out resulting in undesirable results and/or scar tissue.
Do not use any makeup products or facial creams on the procedure area for at least 10-14 days and until you are healed.
Do not use hair/skin bleach or dye on the tattooed area until completely healed.
Do not use exfoliators, peels, and facial products that contain Retonids, Retin-A, Alpha Hydroxy, Retin-A, Glycolic acids, and other products that promote new skin regeneration.
Avoid saunas, tanning beds/booths, taking hot baths/showers, long showers, hot tubs, swimming, and or immersing yourself in waters for long periods of time for up to two weeks and while the tattoo is healing. Doing so can affect the results of your tattoo negatively.
Do not bleach, tint, or dye the tattooed area for one month following the procedure.
Avoid laser resurfacing or laser hair removal after your tattoo is healing/healed. Laser treatments can affect the tattoo by discoloring it, please inform your laser technician.
AFTERCARE
Eyebrows/Eyeliner
Congratulations on your new tattoo! Please follow aftercare instructions. Aftercare is very important for producing beautiful and lasting results.
Keep the area dry for at least 3-5 days. If cleaning is necessary, do not use a washcloth to clean the face. Simply splash with lukewarm water and pat or blot the area dry, DO NOT RUB. Do not use cleansing creams, acne cleansers, or astringents for at least 4 -6 weeks.
Apply a thin film of ointment we supply sparingly with clean hands or a Q-tip, preferably only when the procedure site is feeling too tight or dry. Too little is better than too much! Always blot off excess with a clean disposable tissue and discard. Please allow the area of work to “breathe.”
Avoid direct sunlight for up to two weeks or more.
Always use sunblock after the procedure area is healed to protect from sun fading. Strong waterproof sunscreen is always recommended for sun exposure.
Lips
Keep the area clean and do not let direct water hit your lips while showering. To clean lips simply splash with lukewarm water and pat or blot the area dry, DO NOT RUB.
Apply a thin film of ointment, 100% shea butter, or 100% aloe vera gel regularly with clean hands or a Q-tip. The procedure site will feel tight or dry for at least 2-3 weeks. During this time we recommend you continue to moisturize your lips.
Avoid direct sunlight for up to two weeks or more.
Do not pick, rub, or scratch your tattoo, this will negatively affect your work.
Avoid eating foods that can irritate your lips such as spicy, hot, salty, acidic, oily foods, &, etc. We suggest you avoid eating seafood especially shellfish, as even without seafood allergies, seafood can cause swelling and undesirable results.
While eating do not wipe your lips with a napkin, instead blot lightly. We recommend you drink with a straw.
Make sure to gently clean your lips and rinse your mouth after each meal.
Do not apply cosmetics to or around the area for at least 10-14 days.
